In May 2011, the dance showcase ‘Arabesque nights’ held a ‘vintage night’ where various local dancers appeared as famous Egyptian dancers from the past.  I danced as ‘vintage Dina’.  Dina is the current queen of Cairo and pioneer of the modern Egyptian style.  Her style has evolved over the years, I tried to limit my performance to her moves and styles of the 80s/early 90s.  I mainly used the video ‘Dina in Monte Carlo’ as my reference.  Dina is also famous for a her shocking and strange costumes, so I wore my mini-skirt costume in tribute and styled my accessories and make-up accordingly (simple eye make-up and big glossy lips).  I also tried to give myself big curly hair, but this is the best my hair can come up with, even with 24 hours in curlers!!
